Spring steelhead 3/28/23

Still not much spring weather going on, but the fish are piling up the river on schedule. I still have openings this spring and am filling up quick for fall steelhead and kings. Here’s a couple fellas that each brought a handful to the boat.

Winter Grinding

We got a taste of warm weather and slapped with some more winter again. There are plenty of fish around yet to play with. Decent mix of new fish with some holdovers. The walleye should start showing up in numbers the next 10-15 days also. It’s the time of year to bag a trophy for sure. We typically see walleye 15 pounds plus running up the river. Here’s a few of the fish we caught the last couple outings.

Bill with a giant male in full paint. This is the biggest fish to the boat so far this season.

Great winter Steelheading

The fishing remains good with the recent bump in water levels. Here’s some of the fish from the last couple outings that made the net. I still have plenty of availability the rest of the winter as well as some spring dates.

Waiting on ice

The ice still hasn’t set up with the warmer temps, thankfully there are plenty of river fish to target while we wait. I’m gonna be running thru winter if anybody is looking to get out. Here’s a few from the last couple outings checking out some different water.

Holiday Steelhead

A few pics of what I’ve seen poking around some other rivers lately on days off. Fishing is still good most days with fish laying in some pretty predictable water. The average fish is significantly larger this year and not seeing a shortage of overall numbers either. It’s going to be a great spring!!

November Winter Steelhead

Mother Nature sure does switch gears fast. It went from 75 degrees to 25 in a couple days. Fortunately, it didn’t slow the fishing down as they continue to bite in the snow squalls. There is a good mix of new fish with colored up October residents still around in the systems. I have openings throughout the holiday and some scattered this spring if you are looking to get in on the action.

Kings are in full blast. Good amounts of fish in most northern rivers. Southern rivers should be heating up this week as well. Exciting to see such good returns with the DNR only increasing plants next year.
