Seasons
February Thru May | Spring
Steelhead enter the river February-March and hit the gravel to spawn in March-May. Late Spring is also a good shot at Trophy Brown Trout looking for bugs and eggs. We also get some good Walleye for the opener.
June Thru August
Time to start chasing some Smallmouth Bass, Pike and Walleyes. The hotter weather, the better. If we get some cooler temps in July, it can lead to some good summer Steelhead fishing.
September Thru October
It's King Salmon season. You can have your hands full with these fish. There has been several fish over 30lbs. recorded the last few years with the 40lb. mark being broken with a couple. We start jigging kings as soon as beginning of August and chase them up the rivers with crankbaits and eggs thru mid October.
Mid October Thru December
Late fall is focused on fall chrome. Fall Steelhead are probably the most aggressive, high flying fish in Michigan. Pretty much programmed to destroy any egg that gets in front of them. A great fighting fish to follow up the King season.
December Thru February
Winter Steelhead season is a favorite of many anglers. Fishing pressure drops with the colder temps, but fishing can remain hot. The Steelhead transition to the deeper slower water which can make them easier to target. The Walleye are also known to enter the rivers and some big fish are available to catch on their way up to spawn.
